About Me.

Arrow pointing right

With one foot still in education, I have a unique understanding of how learning and behavior impact our lives during school, and beyond.

My name is Nick Riley and I have worked in education for almost fifteen years. I’ve been fortunate enough to work in various settings, including non-public schools, residential treatment centers, comprehensive public schools, and medical/clinical centers. My background is as a school psychologist — and Licensed Educational Psychologist (LEP #3967) — working in Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego counties.

I currently work in southern California as a school psychologist in a specialized program for youth with significant social-emotional needs who struggle in a traditional public school environment. I know that the first step in the road to getting the appropriate support is a thorough assessment.

I conduct evaluations and psychological counseling for those with various life experiences, mental health diagnoses, and neurological/learning disorders including Specific Learning Disorder (e.g., dysgraphia, dyscalculia), various processing disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, depression, and various anxiety disorders.

In order to further support those with whom I work, I have an additional specialization in behavior and maintain a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA #1-18-32027) certification. An expertise in behavior analysis supports my evaluation process so that I have a full understanding of how and when particular ADHD symptoms are amplified or muted in different environments. There is no blood test for ADHD — we must consider you/your child’s unique constellation of symptoms and their unique presentation.

My goal — through assessment, consultation, parent coaching, psychological counseling, or any combination thereof — is to help others gain an increased understanding of how their brain works and what that means for their learning, communication, and ultimately their relationships.
